We went back in to see Dr. P. today. You're still upright - which means upside down! I've tried using a heating pad and cold pack to get you to turn, that hasn't worked. I've tried kneeling and swaying and that hasn't worked - although it's certainly given your big sister cause to make fun of me. If you don't turn in the next month, they're going to have to try to turn you - and that won't be any fun for either of us!

The fun part of the exam was that Emily went with me and got to see you on ultrasound for the first time. We thought you were sucking your thumb. But no, looking even more closely, you were sucking on your toes.

Here are some pictures we took on your ultrasound day.

Here's your Nana, right before our appointment, still thinking you are a boy!

Here's us - your Mom and Dad:

Here you are:

After our appointment, we went to buy new yarn!

It looks like you're a girl! You're going to be the first Bovey girl in a very long time! We're so excited!!! More importantly, you appear to be very healthy. And you're VERY busy. The poor doctor had a hard time looking at you because you kept leaping around.

But you're a girl!!!

Wow, so much has gone on since I last updated for you. But I've not forgotten about you, sweetie.

First, your dad, sister, and I went on a cruise. During that time, we got to see two ultrasounds of you - and you look like a baby! Very short arms and legs so far, but those will grow, hopefully. Otherwise the other children at school will tease you a bit because, right now anyway, you sort of resemble a duck. But a very cute duck. And then yesterday your dad and I got to hear your heartbeat. It was beating about 168 times a minute - which is fast. The doctor said that it's commonly believed faster heartbeats often mean the baby is a boy. But we don't know for sure just yet!

I'm still getting sick and not able to eat very much. But man, I'm loving Edward's Frozen Key Lime Pie. I keep sending your poor father out to the store - usually late at night - to get me some. Luckily, they sell it by the slice (well, sort of, in packs of two-slices). This is good because I obviously can't be trusted with a whole pie.

I have an appointment scheduled with Colonel L our last day in town, May 26, before we leave for the family cruise. During that appointment, we're supposed to get to hear your heartbeat.

But, before the appointment, I need to get a letter to send to the cruiseline saying that I'm ok to travel with them.

So, I called the Colonel's nurses yesterday to ask for the letter. They also took my phone number, in case the Colonel needed to call me.

Today he called.

Colonel L: "Hi, is your head still bothering you?"

Me: "No, this has nothing to do with my head. I'm pregnant! AND, as soon as it happened, my headaches went away."

Colonel L: "Well, now we know the treatment that works for you."

Me: "I'm not sure which is better or which is worse. All I know is I can't stop throwing up."

I went on to tell him what I needed for the letter. Then we started talking about our appointment.

Me: "I want you to really listen well. I want you to try to make sure you hear however many hearts there might be to hear."

Colonel L: "What do you mean?"

Me: "Well, let's see. I started throwing up two days after I got pregnant - well before I actually "knew" I was pregnant. By week 5, I was in maternity clothes. I'm older. So, I just want to know what we're dealing with - how many."

Colonel L: "Well hell, if that's the case, we'll just do an ultrasound when you're here."

Me: "But... they told me I could only get one ultrasounds on post and that was supposed to be at Week 20."

Colonel L: "Huh, and here was me thinking I was a Colonel and all and could do whatever I wanted..."

Me: "Whatever you say, Sir."

So yay! Looks like we're gonna get two chances to see you before you're born!
